Information about the international scientific conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Paata Gugushvili Institute of Economics
On October 20 of this year, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University hosted an international scientific conference held in Building I to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Paata Gugushvili Institute of Economics. The theme of the conference was “Global Economic Development Trends in the New Geopolitical Reality: Georgia’s Position and Challenges”. The conference was attended by scientists and researchers from Georgian higher education institutions, as well as international scholars.
The conference was opened by the Director of the Paata Gugushvili Institute of Economics, Professor Ramaz Abesadze. He greeted the conference participants, invited guests and spoke, about the institute’s history from its foundation to the present time. Following this, welcoming speeches were delivered by the Deputy Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor Nino Gvenetadze, by the President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Academician Roin Metreveli; Academicians: Vladimer Papava, Avtandil Silagadze, Mikheil Djibuti; Professors: Elguja Mekvabishvili, Teimuraz Shengelia, Doctor of Legal Sciences, professor Besarion Zoidze, Doctor of Economic Sciences Revaz Javakhishvili and the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Doctor of Economic Sciences Manana Lobzhanidze. Afterwards, greetings were extended by foreign participants: Professor Alina Betley, Head of the Economics and Internet Sociological Research Center at John Paul II Catholic University (Poland); Wisław Tadeusz Popławski, Professor at Białystok University of Technology (Poland); Kornelia Golombek, a doctoral candidate at the University of Applied Sciences in Essen (Germany).
After the plenary session, the work continued in sections. Within the framework of the conference operated five sections: Economic Theory and Business Problem Studies; Macroeconomics, Sustainable Development, Finance and Banking; Sectoral and Regional Economics; International Economic Relations and Globalization; and Demography, Sociology, and Labor Economics.
After the sections concluded their work, Professor Ramaz Abesadze, Director of the Paata Gugushvili Institute of Economics, summarized the conference proceedings and noted that the conference was conducted at a very high level.
On the second day an excursion was organized for the conference participants followed by a celebratory reception—a banquet.
